University of Tetova, today marked the 26th anniversary of the beginning of the first lectures. 26 years ago, the long-standing dream of the Albanians of our country to have a university in the Albanian language became a reality. This great achievement was realized by the unification of the forces of the entire Albanian population in our territories, for a single purpose, the education in the mother tongue. In commemoration of this historic date for the University and the Albanians of these areas, the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, together with the academic staff and students, paid homage to the bust of the martyr of Albanian education, Abdylselam Emini, where he was reminded of his work and sacrifice of the Albanian population for university in Albanian language.
Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Prof. Dr. Fadbi Osmani, said that on this historic date we commemorate the martyr, Abdylselam Emini, and all those who sacrificed everything for the University of Tetova and to remain as it is today. “Today we mark the anniversary of the first lectures of the University of Tetova and on this occasion I would like to congratulate students for this anniversary and all the staff of the University of Tetova. Let us not forget in any moment the martyr who fell for the university, who sacrificed his life for the University of Tetova, Abdylselam Emini, whom we will remember and pay homage as a sign of honor every time we mark this date. I would like to thank all the professors who are no longer alive, but who contributed with the first lectures at the University of Tetova. Our compatriots, professors from Albania and Kosovo did not spare anything and without hesitation responded positively to the request of the University of Tetova to lecture in these auditoriums, just to have no obstacles in the progress of the first lectures. The lectures could not be realized even without the generosity of the citizens, who turned their homes into classrooms, faculties. We thank the homeowners in Reçica, Poroj and some other places, by not forgetting the benefactors who helped the University with financial means. Today the University faces various challenges and in particular the challenges of the pandemic, but the University of Tetova is organized in the best possible way to overcome all these challenges and obstacles and to organize teaching in a normal way in various forms. The key word of the university is quality” – said the Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Prof. Dr. Fadbi Osmani.
The homage continued at the grave of the founder and the first historical Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani, as a sign of respect and gratitude for his life and work, as well as the contribution given for the foundation of Albanian education in the Republic of North Macedonia.
The UT delegation also visited the Historical Museum of the University of Tetova in the village of Poroj, where the first lectures were held in extremely difficult conditions, but thanks to the effort, sacrifice, joining forces and great desire to study, they managed to raise this hearth of knowledge called the University of Tetova. This activity was concluded with the homage to the statue of founder and the first historical Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani.
