University of Tetova together with the U.S. Embassy in our country and the American Corner in Tetovo marked the Earth Day

University of Tetova, today together with the U.S. Embassy in our country, the American Corner in Tetovo and the Student Parliament of UT marked the Earth Day. This activity was marked by a bicycle ride in the city starting from the American Corner in Tetovo to the park of the University of Tetova. The event was attended by the Ambassador of the United States of America, Her Excellency Ms. Kate Marie Byrnes, Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, coordinator of the American Corner in Tetovo, Gëzim Sulejmani, and President of Student Parliament of the University of Tetova, Eliesa Zhaku, as well as students and members of the American Corner.

The aim of marking this day was to raise the awareness of the population on Earth Day, as well as to give messages for the creation of a better living environment and its protection. The Ambassador of the United States of America, Her Excellency Ms. Kate Marie Byrnes and the Rector of the University of Tetova Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, on a white cloth wrote their messages in honor of the Earth Day calling for the preservation of the living environment.

It was also said that cycling was a great opportunity to enjoy this beautiful spring day with the hope that in the future this tradition will continue, although unfortunately due to the global pandemic Covid-19 last year the Earth was not marked with any activity.

Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, thanked the U Ambassador of the United States of America, Ms. Kate Marie Byrnes and the American Corner for the contribution and support they constantly give to our students and young people and also said that hopes that in the future together with the U.S.  Embassy, with the American Corner and students will carry out many other activities.

The idea to mark the Earth Day was given by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson in 1970 in order to raise the awareness of the nationwide community in support of care and protection of the environment. Today marking this date constitutes an event coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, by organizing in more than 193 countries around the globe.
