Over the course of three days, the Grand Master, who has staged 81 opera premieres during his 44 years of work at the Opera Theater in Albania and 25 years of teaching at the Academy of Arts in Tirana, visited the University of Tetova.

The presence of Master Nikolin Gurakuqi and his work during the three-day masterclass has brought extraordinary experiences for the students of Musical Art and Dramatic Art.

He was welcomed in a friendly meeting by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, who congratulated the professor for all the success in decades, emphasizing that the University of Tetova considers it a special privilege to have him, both as a rare personality and as a descendant of the family of Luigj Gurakuqi, who was a delegate of the Congress of Manastir and a signatory of the Declaration of Independence of Albania.

All this three-day work was successfully concluded with a concert performed by the students participating in the masterclass, who excelled in their performances.

On this occasion, the book of professor Nikolin Gurakuqi’s was also promoted, in which he shared the 20-year experience of his father, Luigj Gurakuqi, from whom he inherited the mastery of opera direction. The promotion was attended by distinguished figures of musical art, including the prima donna of the Albanian Opera Theater, Marjana Leka – Grand Master, the conductor of the Albanian Opera Theater, Mr. Edmond Doko, the director of the Kosovo Opera, Mr. Meriton Ferizi, and the renowned soprano of the Kosovo Philharmonic and Opera, Adelina Paloja.

Marjana Leka and Edmond Doko spoke about their long experience with Maestro Gurakuqi, as well as the value and importance of this publication for the students of the Faculty of Arts and for cultural institutions. Adelina Paloja spoke about Professor Gurakuqi’s experience and success in staging the first Kosovar opera, “Goca e Kaçanikut,” in February of this year, meanwhile, the director of the Kosovo Opera, Mr. Meriton Ferizi, spoke about the importance of this book, acknowledging its initiator and facilitator. The entire event was led by Prof. Dr. Besiana Mehmedi, while the welcoming remarks were given by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Senad Abduli, who, at the end of the promotion, expressed gratitude on behalf of Rector Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli for the successful realization of the masterclass and the contribution of Professor Nikolin Gurakuqi to Albanian pedagogical and cultural life.
