University of Tetova, specifically the Faculty of Medical Sciences, marked an important milestone on July 7, 2026, by organizing the theoretical examination for the Family Medicine specialization, taken by the first four residents enrolled in this program. The candidates, Dr. Fexhide Rakipi, Dr. Lindora Alii, Dr. Vesna Gjorkovska, and Dr. Ramize Aliju, successfully completed a significant stage of their professional training, becoming the first generation of Family Medicine residents at the University of Tetova.

The ceremonial event was attended by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti; the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Bekim Sali; the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Driton Sulejmani; university officials, professors, members of the examination committee, and the residents’ family members.

Opening the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Elezi, presented an overview of the faculty’s specialist training programs, highlighting their continuous development and advancement as a result of the institution’s commitment to enhancing the quality of medical education.

Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, described the occasion as a significant milestone for both the university and the higher education system. “Today is not merely another date on the academic calendar; it is a celebration of knowledge, dedication, and our vision for the future of healthcare. The University of Tetova takes great pride in celebrating the successful completion of training by its first generation of Family Medicine residents, demonstrating once again its commitment to educating competent professionals devoted to serving the public” , said Rector Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti.

He recalled that the specialist training programs were accredited on 28 March 2022 and expressed his gratitude to First Deputy Prime Minister Bekim Sali for his contribution to this process during his tenure as Minister of Health. According to the Rector, the University of Tetova currently offers eight accredited specialist training programs, with a total of 61 residents enrolled, including 10 in Family Medicine.

The attendees were also addressed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Driton Sulejmani, who commended the University of Tetova for its progress in advancing higher education and for its institutional commitment to the development of specialist training programs.

First Deputy Prime Minister Bekim Sali described the occasion as the culmination of many years of dedicated work and a testament to the continued development of the University of Tetova.

“Today, we are witnessing the first residents defending their specialist qualification in Family Medicine at the University of Tetova. This is a success not only for them, but also a significant institutional achievement that demonstrates that investing in higher education and the development of universities is the most reliable investment in the future of our country”, Sali stated.

He emphasized that the Government will continue to support reforms in higher education, the expansion of specialist training programs, investments in infrastructure, modern laboratories, and scientific research, with the aim of enhancing the quality of universities and preparing highly qualified professionals.

The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of certificates. Rector Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti presented the certificate to Dr. Fexhide Rakipi, Dean Prof. Dr. Nevzat Elezi awarded the certificate to Dr. Lindora Alii, First Deputy Prime Minister Bekim Sali presented the certificate to Dr. Vesna Gjorkovska, while Deputy Minister Driton Sulejmani presented the certificate to Dr. Ramize Aliju.

This event marks a new milestone in the development of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the University of Tetova, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to educating a new generation of medical specialists who will contribute to strengthening the healthcare system and providing high-quality healthcare services to the public.
