Student Assembly of the University of Tetova calls on the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of North Macedonia to ensure that the Judicial Examination, the Notary Examination, the Enforcement Agent Examination, and other state professional examinations are also organized in the Albanian language.
In its request addressed to the Minister of Justice, Jeton Shasivari, the Student Assembly emphasizes that this issue has been raised several times over the past two years with the Ministry of Justice and other competent institutions, but so far no concrete solution has been found.
The students are calling for the examinations, preparatory materials, and all of their components to also be made available in the Albanian language, arguing that conducting them exclusively in Macedonian creates inequality and additional difficulties for Albanian students who pursue their studies in the Albanian language.
According to the President of the Student Assembly, Gent Kurtishi, this issue is directly related to respecting the right to use the Albanian language, as well as the principles of equality and non-discrimination. In this regard, the students call for the full implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages, referring in particular to Article 23, paragraphs 4 and 5.
“It is unacceptable for students who study in the Albanian language to face different conditions when completing their professional qualification process. The language of instruction should also be the language in which students have the opportunity to take state professional examinations”, the Student Assembly stated in its request, which was submitted to the Ministry of Justice today.
Student Assembly considers that the opportunity to take these examinations in the Albanian language as well would guarantee equal conditions for all candidates, facilitating their path toward practicing legal professions and creating equal opportunities for employment and professional development.
The students believe that both the legal basis and the practical possibilities exist for organizing the Judicial Examination and other state examinations in both Albanian and Macedonian, covering both the theoretical and practical components.
Finally, the Student Assembly of the University of Tetova calls on the Ministry of Justice to take the necessary measures and provide a concrete solution to this issue, so that all students and candidates are afforded equal treatment and equal opportunities in advancing their professional careers.
