A chess tournament organized by the Workers’ Union of the University of Tetova was successfully held today on the premises of the University of Tetova. The event brought together 20 participants from among university employees and students, who competed in a sporting, friendly atmosphere characterized by a strong spirit of fair play.
The tournament was conducted according to the Swiss-system format, consisting of seven rounds, featuring engaging matches and a high level of competition among the participants. After the completion of all rounds, Mr. Qebir Xheladini was declared the winner of the tournament, securing first place with an outstanding performance. Second place was awarded to Mr. Jasin Saiti, while third place went to Mr. Altin Abduramani. They also delivered commendable performances and demonstrated a high level of skill throughout the tournament.
During the closing ceremony, special awards were presented to the three winners, while all participants were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their commitment, participation, and contribution to the successful organization of this sporting event.
The awards and certificates of appreciation were presented by the tournament’s organizing committee, consisting of Mr. Florian Nesimi, Prof. Dr. Shefket Dehari, Mr. Ali Salihi, and Mr. Ramadan Osmani, who thanked all participants for their involvement and for the sporting spirit that characterized the event.
The leadership of the University of Tetova, headed by Rector Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, congratulated the organizers on the successful organization of the tournament, emphasizing that such activities contribute to strengthening university life and creating a collaborative environment between staff and students.
They highlighted that chess promotes not only strategic and analytical skills, but also the values of cooperation, mutual respect, discipline, and the spirit of fair competition. At the same time, they emphasized that initiatives of this kind serve as important efforts to promote sports and intellectual culture within the University of Tetova, transforming chess into a bridge of communication, cooperation, and connection among members of the university community.
