Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Tetova today organized a symbolic event on the occasion of the 249th anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America. Through a cycling activity, students and professors of the University of Tetova conveyed a message of friendship, respect, and international cooperation.

The event started at the Rectorate Square of the University of Tetova, with participation from university leaders, professors and students from all faculties, as well as administrative staff. With flags in hand and positive energy, participants pedaled along the industrial road toward “Monopoli”, continued through the city center, then toward the Painted Mosque, reaching the roundabout at the city’s exit in the direction of Gostivar, and finally returned to the Rectorate Square in front of the statue of the university’s founder and First historic Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani.

Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, stated that the University of Tetova and the Albanian people are blessed with the friendship they share with the American people and institutions. To honor and respect this partnership, he said, several sports and creative activities are being organized during these days to mark the Independence of the United States of America.”To stand alongside our friends, to show solidarity, and to contribute to the promotion of values that relate not only to the field of education but also to the respect of citizens’ rights on a global level, the rule of law, and the development of democracy. This is how we aim to align ourselves with the civilized world and to appreciate our friends”, said the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli.

The Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Prof. Dr. Shpresa Memishi, praised the broad participation and enthusiasm shown by students and staff of the University, emphasizing the importance of activities that unite the university community around shared values—sports, freedom, and intercultural respect.“The cycling tour served not only as a promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle, but also as a tribute to an important date in the history of global democracy—the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America on July 4, 1776. Through this tour, the University of Tetova reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an active, civic, athletic, and friendly spirit, in an increasingly interconnected global context”, stated Prof. Dr. Shpresa Memishi.

The series of sports activities in honor of July 4th, marking the 249th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, will conclude tomorrow with the final match of the Beach Volleyball tournament, starting at 18:30.
