The Faculty of Arts, as an integral part of the University of Tetova, with the study programs of Figurative Art, Musical Art and Dramatic Art, represents the foundation of higher education in the field of art. During these decades of existence, all these study programs within the Faculty of Arts have built a well-known profile, have occupied a special place in the entire educational system of the Republic of North Macedonia and have formed generations of young people dedicated to art and the creative approach in general.

With the establishment of the University of Tetova on December 17, 1994, the Faculty of Arts was also established within it. In 1996/2002, the Faculty of Arts was transformed into three faculties: the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Musical Arts and the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. In 2002/2004, the three faculties merged into one faculty: the Faculty of Arts with three study programs: Figurative Arts, Musical Arts and Dramatic Arts.

In 2004, the University of Tetovo was officially named the State University of Tetovo by the Accreditation Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia and within it the Faculty of Humanities and Arts with two study programs: Figurative Arts and Musical Arts. Meanwhile, in 2008 it was transformed into the Faculty of Arts, a name it still bears today (07.07.2008 has been declared Faculty of Arts Day).

Studies at the Faculty of Arts are adapted to the Credit Accumulation and Transfer System, which is designed in accordance with the recommendations and framework of European academies and faculties and in accordance with the Bologna Declaration. Studies in the first cycle at the Faculty of Arts last four academic years (eight semesters 240 ECTS credits), while studies in the second cycle last one academic year (two semesters 60 ECTS credits). The Faculty of Arts actively participates in the implementation of the Tempus and Erasmus + Programs and is in continuous cooperation with universities from across the region. For the admission of new students, due to the specifics of the majors, there are certain conditions for registration, namely all those who have completed four-year high school and successfully pass the entrance exam are eligible to register.

Since its establishment until today, the Faculty of Arts has had the status of a leading institution in the field of artistic education. During its 27 years of existence, around 96 distinguished professors-artists from the Republic of North Macedonia, the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Kosovo have participated. About 656 students have graduated from this institution, among whom a large number successfully represented the country with exhibitions, films, concerts, important theatrical performances at home and abroad.

Like other higher education institutions, the Faculty of Arts in Tetovo is also facing the challenges of the modern era. All the characteristics of the time in which we live are reflected in the activity of the Faculty. It is the responsibility of the Faculty teachers to offer curricula, the content of which must be in harmony with the needs of the time.
