Within the organization of the Faculty of Physical Education of the University of Tetova and with the support of the Chess Club “Shkëndija”, on December 3, 2021, in the sports hall of our university was held a student chess tournament.
This tournament has already become a traditional manifestation and was organized in honor of the birthday (December 5, 1940), of the founder and first rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani. This tournament was attended by a total of 30 chess players, all students from different academic units of our university.
The competitions were held according to the Swiss system with 9 rounds and a limited time of 10 minutes for each player. All this organization took place in a positive atmosphere, while the competitors expressed special consideration for each other and were correct in following the rules during the game.
At the end of the 9 rounds, were announced the winners, where the first three places were awarded with cups. The winner of this tournament was announced the student Bashkim Luma, who collected a total of 8 points. The cup for the first place was bestowed by the acting rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Reshat Qahili. The cup for the second place, with 7 points won, was awarded to the student Premtim Jakupi by the Vice-President of the Chess Federation of North Macedonia, Agim Shemshiu, while the third place went to the student Geldon Ibishi, with 6.5 points won, to whom the cup was awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Prof. Dr. Haki Ismaili.
For the positions from the fourth to the seventh place, were awarded medals, which were bestowd by the President of the Student Parliament, Eliesa Zhaku and the President of the Chess Club “Shkëndija”, Setki Misimi. Also, were awarded certificates to all competitors as a sign of gratitude for participating in this tournament. Acknowledgments were bestowed by the tournament assistants, Florian Nesimi and Faton Ganiu.
