Students of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tetova, from the study program Sociology, led by the Head of Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mirlinda Vejseli, and the assistant, MSc. Refije Rexhepi, on April 21, 2026, conducted a study visit to the Correctional Institution in Tetovo.

The purpose of the visit was to deepen students’ practical knowledge about the functioning of the correctional system and the challenges related to the treatment of persons deprived of liberty. During their stay, the students were informed about the structure and organization of the institution, the nature of criminal offenses, living conditions, as well as rehabilitation programs aimed at the resocialization and reintegration of inmates into society.

Special attention was given to the role of the sociologist in such institutions, emphasizing the importance of sociological analysis in understanding and addressing phenomena such as crime, deviance, and social exclusion.

At the end of the visit, the students and academic staff expressed their gratitude to the director, Mr. Xheladin Xheladini, and the institution’s staff for the professional reception and their willingness to cooperate, considering this experience an important contribution to their academic and practical development.
