The Austrian Ambassador to our country, His Excellency Georg Woutsas, accompanied by the Consul Mr. Lukas Bachmeier visited the University of Tetova today. They first met with the Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, where they discussed various topics with particular emphasis on developments in higher education and scientific research. After this meeting, the Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Mr. Vullnet Ameti, together with the Ambassador, Mr. Georg Woutsas visited the Austrian Corner, located in the premises of the University of Tetova, and jointly promoted a considerable amount of books donated to the Austrian Corner by the Austrian government.
The Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti thanked the Austrian ambassador for visiting UT, adding that the institution he runs, along with professors and students are very grateful to the Austrian government and its embassy in our country for the unwavering help they render to this institution. “You have done and still doing a great job helping us to be part of the European Union. We hope that this cooperation will not be interrupted and will continue, because the Balkans are facing many problems, so your presence today, and that of Austria and the European Union itself, will help us to overcome this part of the transition much easier”, said the Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti.
The Ambassador of Austria to North Macedonia, Mr. Georg Woutsas said Austria would support the university, not only in diplomatically but also culturally. “I assure you that Austria is a country that will continue to support you. Austria’s support and cooperation will not only be in the diplomatic field, but also in the cultural field, and today we have brought here some books for the Austrian Corner to serve students. Even though we live in a digital age, I still think the book remains something beautiful and valuable. I am glad that today here at the Austrian Corner I see some books that I myself have read as a young man and here I see young bouys and girls who I believe will read them too”, said the Austrian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Mr. Georg Woutsas.
This event was concluded with the visit of the Austrian delegation to the monument called “Memory Torch” and the statue of the first UT Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani.
