The Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, the President of the Senate, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ferati, and their collaborators visited the house of Haxhi Bari Ganiu, the place where on December 17, 1994, the historic act of founding the University of Tetova was signed. This visit symbolizes a return to the roots of the institution and a reminder of the importance of this moment for Albanian education and culture in the region.
During the visit, Rector Jusuf Zejneli emphasized the importance of remembering and raising awareness about the historical values that have shaped the University of Tetova as a key institution in the development of higher education in North Macedonia. “The house of Haxhi Bari Ganiu is a symbol of the courage and perseverance of our community to create an educational institution that we are all proud to call our intellectual home,” emphasized the Rector of the UT.
Meanwhile, the President of the Senate, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ferati, highlighted the role of the Senate in preserving the traditions and values of the university. “This visit reminds us of our responsibility to preserve and advance the heritage of our university, based on the principles of freedom, dignity, and scientific development,” stated Prof. Dr. Kenan Ferati.
The son of Haxhi Bari Ganiu, Nuhi Ganiu, thanked the leaders of the University of Tetova for their visit and the respect they showed to his family. He then reminisced about his father, emphasizing the importance and impact he had during the founding period of the University of Tetova. He also mentioned that his father’s final request was for the residence where the founding act was signed to remain unchanged and be preserved for generations by his heirs.
The University of Tetova, founded under difficult conditions and with great sacrifices, continues to be an important pillar for Albanian education and culture in the region. The visit of the Rector and the President of the Senate to this historic place serves as a reminder of the values and goals that have guided the University over the years. At the conclusion of this visit, as a sign of gratitude, the Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, presented Mr. Nuhi Ganiu with a complete set of books from the founder and first historic Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani.
