The Workers’ Union of the University of Tetova and the Trade Union of University Employees of Albania signed a cooperation agreement aimed at improving the status of both academic and non-academic staff in higher education institutions in the two countries.
The agreement was signed by the President of the Workers’ Union of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Shefket Dehari, and the President of the Trade Union of University Employees of Albania, Prof. Dr. Sandër Kovaçi.
This cooperation aims to improve the status of teaching and non-teaching staff at universities in North Macedonia and Albania. The memorandum provides for a wide range of non-political and non-governmental activities, focusing mainly on: the exchange of ideas and experiences in union organization; staff training; improvement of labor relations; assessment of legislation and regulations; reciprocal visits; trade union solidarity; invitations to seminars and trainings; transfer of successful practices; and the exchange of information on bilateral and international projects.
This agreement is considered an important step toward unifying trade union efforts in protecting the rights of university employees in the region.
