University of Tetova has signed memoranda of cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, which has provided the Rural Development Program with a budget of about 600,000 euros, funds with which the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy will directly support the scientific institutions in expanding their activities, which are of common interest.

Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Hazir Pollozhani, after signing the memoranda said that the University of Tetova, as an institution of higher education in the Republic of North Macedonia is in the process of completing of new vital study programs, necessary for the needs and requirements for education of a staff such, in particular based on the recommendations of the Bologna Charter, which provides for the approach of higher education to end-users. “Having into the consideration the qualifications and the provision of appropriate knowledge in the field of agriculture and rural development provides an appropriate mechanism for synergistic support between stakeholders, in order to overcome global challenges towards sustainable development. At the regional and global level, cooperation will be initiated with relevant laboratories in the region and beyond. The cooperation will be conceived through the exchange of research staff, through joint applications for scientific research projects, through the exchange of experiences and through the organization of workshops and seminars, as well as the qualitative transfer of knowledge and technologies to other users, especially to similar institutions and professional services. Establishing partnerships and cooperation with state institutions, NGOs, production facilities and capacities and with commercial companies can make a direct contribution to the country’s EU integration. With this we advance the production of healthy food, the industry for processing agricultural and livestock products, the rational use of natural resources, as well as the development of rural and urban area, thus making a major contribution to improving the overall quality of life in national and global scale”- said Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Hazir Pollozhani.

According to the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Arianit Hoxha, the signatories of the memorandums of cooperation will receive financial support which will aim at: supply of laboratory equipment for food safety, supply of equipment for detection of the presence of heavy metals in food, as well as supply of demonstration equipment for agricultural science students.
