At the Faculty of Pedagogy, University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Teuta Iljazi, a lecturer at the faculty, presented her book “Thinking Mathematics” to an audience of students, professors, and book enthusiasts.
The promotion of this book was a significant event, coinciding with the anniversary of the Faculty of Pedagogy at the University of Tetova. On behalf of the university leadership, academic staff, and students, the event was addressed by the Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Prof. Dr. Lulzim Mehmedi.
“Today, as we celebrate the founding of the Faculty of Pedagogy, we have the privilege of promoting the latest work by Prof. Dr. Teuta Iljazi. Mathematics is not merely a subject of theoretical study; it challenges students, educators, and future teachers to approach problem-solving creatively and apply concepts in real-world contexts. This book surpasses the boundaries of traditional mathematics education, encouraging critical thinking and logical analysis. I wholeheartedly congratulate the professor on this exceptional contribution and wish her great success in her future endeavors,” stated Prof. Dr. Lulzim Mehmedi.
Prof. Dr. Rabije Murati, a faculty member at the Faculty of Pedagogy, spoke as the book’s promoter, highlighting its significance not only as a valuable source of knowledge for those looking to deepen and expand their mathematical understanding but also as a guide to innovative teaching methods in this crucial field.
“Thinking Mathematics” is not just a textbook; it is a well-thought-out roadmap designed to stimulate curiosity and build a stronger intellectual foundation for its readers. Prof. Dr. Teuta Iljazi has dedicated herself tirelessly to ensuring that the concept is accessible, comprehensible, and, most importantly, applicable to the daily challenges we encounter,” stated Prof. Dr. Rabije Murati.
The book reviewer, Prof. Dr. Lazim Kamberi, stated that “Thinking Mathematics” by Prof. Dr. Teuta Iljazi focuses on developing logical thinking—mathematical thinking—in the field of mathematics.
“The book is of great importance in preparing school students for mathematical concepts and methods, with a particular emphasis on problem-solving through an analytical and critical approach. Therefore, Thinking Mathematics is a book aimed at students, learners, and educators for classroom use, as it presents a slightly different approach. It is structured into key sections designed to enhance students’ understanding and their ability to apply mathematical concepts independently,” said Prof. Dr. Lazim Kamberi, a professor at the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences.
The author of “Thinking Mathematics”, Prof. Dr. Teuta Iljazi, explained that the book introduces a slightly different approach, with the goal of developing students’ thinking.
“The 21st century demands new skills that must be present in students. Communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and curiosity must be nurtured in students and learners, as they need to be prepared for the challenges of this century. The book is divided into three parts: the first part is related to material taught in lower grades, while the second part encourages students to find logical solutions to problems that can be tackled by those who may not be exceptionally skilled in mathematics. Throughout the tasks, you will find illustrations, diagrams, and models that assist students in solving the problems. This section primarily consists of word problems, as these types of tasks are rarely worked on in schools, despite their multidimensional benefits. The book also includes a glossary where concepts are clarified with diagrams or photographs. The third part, at the end of the book, provides results and task instructions, allowing students to conduct self-assessments of their knowledge,” added Prof. Dr. Teuta Iljazi, the author and a professor at the Faculty of Pedagogy.
At the conclusion of this event, the book “Thinking Mathematics” was distributed free of charge to all participants.
