Today, the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, welcomed Laura Djuragic, Head of the Public Affairs Office at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje, who was accompanied by Mr. Gazmend Ilazi, Coordinator for Educational Program and Alumni Activities Exchange, and Katerina Wolfe, an English Language Assistant within the Fulbright Program.
The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Salajdin Salihu, and the Head of the Office for International Relations, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hatibe Deari-Zeqiri.
After welcoming the representatives of the U.S. Embassy, Rector Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti expressed his pleasure at their visit to the University of Tetova. He highly valued the cooperation and support provided thus far by U.S. institutions and representatives, emphasizing the importance of further expanding and strengthening this cooperation.
During the meeting, the Rector briefed the guests on the history and development of the University of Tetova, its academic and scientific development, study programs, as well as its cooperation with universities in the country, the region, Europe, and the United States. He highlighted the cooperation with Northern Illinois University and joint projects in the field of education, while emphasizing that internationalization remains one of the University’s priorities. In this regard, the University aims to expand its partnerships with other U.S. universities, involve other academic units, and, in the future, accredit study programs delivered in English.
Ms. Laura Djuragic thanked the Rector for the hospitality, respect, and consideration shown, expressing her readiness for cooperation between the U.S. Embassy and the University of Tetova to continue developing and to be further strengthened through joint initiatives and projects.
She also expressed interest in the total number of students at the University of Tetova, the number of students enrolled in the new academic year, the study programs offered by the University, and their alignment with the needs of the labor market. The parties also exchanged views on the opportunities offered by academic mobility and exchange programs, including the Fulbright and Erasmus+ programs, as well as on expanding the participation of students and academic staff in these programs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness to continue and further strengthen cooperation between the University of Tetova and the Embassy of the United States of America in Skopje, with a focus on internationalization, academic mobility, the exchange of experiences, and the implementation of joint projects in the interest of students and the further academic and institutional development of the University.
