Faculty of Food Technology and Nutrition at the University of Tetova organized an event on October 16 to mark World Food Day, under the motto “Today’s innovation, tomorrow’s food”. The event was attended by university officials, professors, students, and high school pupils, who had the opportunity to learn about the importance of healthy eating and the role of science in improving food quality.

In his address, the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about healthy eating and its impact on quality of life. “Raising awareness of these issues is extremely important in the circumstances in which we live. The food we consume today affects our health in the future; therefore, we must be mindful of its quality and our lifestyle. Through activities such as this, the University aims to contribute to increasing awareness and promoting a healthier lifestyle”, stated Rector Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Food Technology and Nutrition, Prof. Dr. Gafur Xhabiri, stated that the purpose of celebrating World Food Day is to raise public awareness of the importance of food, while for academic institutions, this day provides an opportunity to demonstrate the connection between science and consumers. “World Food Day aims to raise awareness worldwide about the importance of food. This year’s motto, “Today’s innovation, tomorrow’s food”, is particularly significant for our faculty, as it connects science with consumer needs. Today, we have also invited high school students, while our university students have prepared traditional dishes, combining academic knowledge with the values of our culinary heritage”, stated Dean Prof. Dr. Gafur Xhabiri.

As part of the event, students presented traditional dishes they had prepared, promoting gastronomic heritage and the importance of preserving food traditions and their nutritional values.

Through this event, the University of Tetova, and specifically the Faculty of Food Technology and Nutrition, reaffirmed its commitment to education, innovation, and raising awareness among younger generations about the importance of healthy eating.
