Today, a solemn ceremony was held at the premises of the Rectorate of the University of Tetova to mark the beginning of the new academic year 2026/2027. This event represents a particularly significant moment for the University, as it is primarily dedicated to welcoming new students, who are entering the lecture halls of this institution for the first time to begin a new chapter in their educational and professional journey.
In his address to the students, the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, placed particular emphasis on the students, noting that many of them had arrived with different emotions. Some came with great enthusiasm, some with curiosity, and some with uncertainty. Some have known for years what they want to study and what they want to become. Others may still be searching for their path. According to him, this is completely normal. “You do not come to the University because you know all the answers. You come here to learn how to seek answers. And perhaps even more importantly, to learn how to ask the right questions. In the years ahead, you will gain a great deal of professional knowledge. But my hope is that the University will give you much more than that. That will teach you to think independently. To make arguments. To listen to different perspectives. Seeking evidence. Not to accept everything you are told at face value. To have the courage to ask ‘why?’, but also the maturity to accept when someone else has a stronger argument. You will have wonderful days. You will achieve successes that will make you proud. You will have professors who will inspire you, friends who will stand by your side, and ideas that may change the way you see the world. But there will also be difficult days. There will be exams that will not go the way you want them to. There will be fatigue, doubts, and moments when you will ask yourselves whether you are capable. In those moments, do not forget why you came here. Do not let a grade, an exam, or a temporary setback convince you that you are not capable. Academic life is not a path without obstacles. It is a path in which we also learn from obstacles. Often, it is precisely the most difficult moments that teach us more about ourselves than moments of success. You are beginning your studies at an exceptionally interesting time. The world around us is changing at an extraordinary pace. Artificial intelligence, digitalization, and new technologies are transforming professions, the economy, science, and the very way we learn. Many of you, in a few years, will work in professions that may look completely different from what they are today, while some of you may work in professions that do not yet exist. This means that our responsibility as a university cannot be limited to preparing you for an exam or for your first job. We must prepare you for a life in which you will need to keep learning continuously. And your responsibility is not to be satisfied only with what you hear in the lecture hall. Read more. Seek more. Use the laboratories. Make use of the library. Take part in projects. Conduct research. Learn languages. Use technology to create, not merely to consume. On behalf of the University of Tetova, I thank you for the trust you have placed in us. We will do everything within our responsibility to ensure that your children can learn, develop, and build their future”, – said the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti.
At the conclusion of the event, the leadership of the University of Tetova symbolically presented student record books to several new students. Through this gesture, the students were wished success, motivation, and a fruitful academic journey throughout the years of study ahead. Following the conclusion of the central ceremony, the students, accompanied by their professors, headed to their respective faculties. During these visits, they had the opportunity to become familiar with the facilities, study conditions, and the modern technological infrastructure and facilities available at our university.
The beginning of the new academic year was also marked with a solemn ceremony in Kumanovo. The important event for students from this region was attended by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Naser Raimi, as well as professors from the respective faculty, who welcomed the students and wished them success as they embark on their new challenges.
