Students of the University of Tetova, Besim Ademi and Drita Rexhepi, were declared winners of the first prize in the Hackathon organized as part of the international workshop “Foundations of Data Science and AI”, held from June 15 to June 19, 2026, at Ismail Qemali University in Vlora. The event was organized by AlbaNovus in collaboration with international academic and industrial partners.
During the five-day program, participants attended lectures and intensive workshops in the fields of data science, machine learning, neural networks, generative artificial intelligence, agentic systems, and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), working with the most modern technologies and tools available in these fields.
The highlight of the event was the Hackathon, which concluded on June 19 with the presentation of the final projects. A total of 56 students from seven universities across the region participated in the competition, and the winners were announced during the closing ceremony.
Students of Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Tetova participated with a total of four innovative projects. Thanks to their creativity, technical expertise, and innovative approach to solving the challenges presented, they succeeded in standing out among the participating teams and winning first place. In doing so, they represented the University of Tetova with distinction and demonstrated the high potential of our students in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science.
In the preparation and development of the projects, the students were mentored by Prof. Dr. Florinda Imeri and Asst. Prof. Dr. Shkurte Luma-Osmani, whose dedication, support, and academic guidance contributed significantly to this outstanding success.
This result represents an important achievement for the University of Tetova and serves as evidence of the quality of its students and academic staff. It once again confirms the university’s active role in developing modern competencies and promoting excellence in academic and competitive activities of an international character.
