Today, on September 9, 2026, the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, welcomed in a meeting the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Pançe Toshkovski, and Deputy Minister Astrit Iseni. Minister Toshkovski’s visit was his first visit to the University of Tetova, and the meeting focused on advancing institutional cooperation, with particular emphasis on creating professional and employment opportunities for students who have graduated from the study program of Criminology.
During the meeting, the Rector was accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Agon Memeti; the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Salajdin Salihu; the Secretary General, Adem Beadini; the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Safet Emruli; and the Head of the Study Program of Criminology, Prof. Dr. Shaban Jakupi.
Rector Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti thanked Minister Toshkovski for his visit and briefed him on the history of the University of Tetova, its development over the years, its educational and scientific activities, as well as the latest developments at the University. He also highlighted the enrollment process for new students for the academic year 2026/2027, including enrollment in the study program of Criminology, which operates within the Faculty of Law.
One of the key issues discussed during the meeting was the possibility of formalizing cooperation between the University of Tetova and the Ministry of Internal Affairs through a cooperation agreement. Particular attention was given to the possibility of creating concrete employment and professional engagement opportunities for graduates of the study program of Criminology within the relevant departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It was discussed that, in the future, joint working groups comprising representatives of the University of Tetova and the Ministry of Internal Affairs could be established to work on defining the modalities of cooperation, as well as on identifying and selecting outstanding students of Criminology who would be provided with opportunities for professional engagement within the relevant structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The participants in the meeting assessed that such cooperation would establish a more direct link between university education and the needs of state institutions, enabling students to put the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during their studies into practice in their professional careers.
At the same time, cooperation between the two institutions was assessed as an important opportunity for the further professional development of young professionals in the field of Criminology and for creating better prospects for students upon completion of their studies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of the University of Tetova and the Ministry of Internal Affairs expressed their readiness to continue interinstitutional communication in the coming period, with the aim of concretizing the issues discussed and further advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
