University of Tetova, in collaboration with the American Corner – Tetovo and the U.S. Embassy, today awarded certificates to the winners from grades I, II, and III of both primary and secondary school levels, along with their mentors – passionate English teachers who played a vital role in preparing the students for this competition, at the regional “Spelling Bee” Competitions. This activity aims to encourage the learning of the English language and strengthen the skills of writing and pronunciation of words among the youth.
In his opening speech, MSc. Gëzim Sulejmani, coordinator of the American Corner – Tetovo, expressed deep gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the competition. “We are grateful to all our partners – the U.S. Embassy in North Macedonia, the Municipality of Tetovo, the University of Tetova – and the extraordinary support from the Peace Corps volunteers, ACT interns, and our volunteers at the American Corner. This event would not have been possible without your time, passion, and dedication”, said Sulejmani.
The Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, expressed that he is pleased to participate in these educational and cultural activities for the younger generations. He said that the University of Tetova, along with all other institutions, is constantly open to contributing to the younger generations and congratulated all the winners as well as the professors, who have consistently worked to ensure the students’ success.
Charles M. Santiago Morales, Deputy Public Affairs Officer and Cultural Attaché from the U.S. Embassy, also shared his impressions. “I was positively surprised by the courage and enthusiasm of so many students who participated in this “Spelling Bee”. It is impressive to see such a large number of young participants, all showing great dedication and passion. I am truly grateful for the support of all the schools, mentors, and institutions that helped make this event possible’’, said Charles M. Santiago Morales.
The “Spelling Bee” Competitions are an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves and develop their language skills in a competitive, yet supportive environment. The participants showed dedication and high abilities in the correct pronunciation of words, demonstrating the importance of this activity, which creates new opportunities for students to develop their potential.
